"Jan's Tragedy" at the Chorea Theatre in Łódź

November 17, 2018 on the stage of the Art_Inkubatora in the Factory The play in Łódź took place the eagerly awaited premiere of the performance “Tragedy” John” – means “Tragedy or image of the Death of the Holy John the Baptist The Messenger of God” by Jakub Gawatowice directed by Waldemar Raźniak. Manufacturer the performance was the Warsaw Stage Society.

The play tells the story of John the Baptist fighting against the sin of the world, the conflict between John and Herod and the intrigue of Herodias, which led to the execution of the saint. Jakub Gawatowice’s play directed by Waldemar Raźniak turns out to be an extremely timely text, allowing contemporary artists to reflect on the raison d’être of faith and religiosity, pagan-Christian rituals and the limits of fanaticism in today’s world. Questions about these issues resounded in the CHOREA Theatre in Łódź, known for its experiments with old cultural texts.

The performance met with great interest and was appreciated by the long applause of the crowded audience. This time, the Warsaw Stage Society had the honor of acting as a producer of the performance and is already looking forward to the continuation of this story.
